A limited number of scholarships are available for each course. There are two types of scholarships available: Full Scholarship (Tuition/ Airfare/ Hotel) and a Tuition Scholarship.
A Full Scholarship is defined as covering entire cost of tuition for the class, up to $300 reimbursement for airfare, and the negotiated rate for the hotel selected to host the training. Full scholarship recipients will only need to provide their credit card upon check-in for any incidental costs they may incur. We have decided to limit the reimbursement for airfare to encourage participants to register early for scholarships and maximize the number of counselors that are able to benefit from receiving it.
A Tuition Scholarship will only cover the cost of tuition for the course, as indicated.
Scholarships will only be considered for the next scheduled NHNLA training on the calendar. Applications will be accepted up to 15 days prior to this training. Below are the eligibility criteria to be considered for a scholarship:
- Counselors must be employed by a HUD certified agency.
- Eligible agencies must be independently certified by HUD.
- Agencies cannot use more than one scholarship per fiscal year to ensure that equal opportunity is given to as many organizations as possible.
- Scholarships will be issued on a first come, first serve basis.
- Counselors must be employed by a HUD certified agency.
- Eligible agencies must be certified by an approved HUD Intermediary.
- Limit of 5 total scholarships per intermediary per training.
- If Intermediary sponsored scholarship applications exceed 5 applications, they will placed on a waiting list and will be considered if scholarships are available. If there are scholarships available for a class after the limit for intermediary applications have been accepted, scholarship applications will be selected in the order in which they were received.
