Pre-Purchase I: Fundamentals of Pre-Purchase Homebuyer Counseling

In most cases, counselors attend an initial training to learn the fundamentals, and then spend hours incorporate those fundamentals into practical application – working with an actual client in a one-on-one setting. Such practical applications include how to use technology during a one-on-one session to pull credit reports, create work plans and budgets, compare loan products, and input loan information. Providing training on these issues in isolation adds an additional layer of complexity for counselors struggling to make all the pieces work together. We took the guesswork out of the counseling process and gave counselors all of the tools they would need to be effective upon returning to the office.

Counselors need a training that combines the following:

  • Housing counseling fundamentals
  • Counseling structure and templates
  • Training on the online technology the agency is using (either CounselorMax or Home Counselor Online)
  • HUD Housing Counseling requirements

The training will take place in Charlotte, NC from April 19-22, 2010. Below are important dates and times:

  • Hotel Check-in: April 18, 2010
  • Registration: April 19, 2010 from 7:00 a.m. -8:30 a.m.
  • Daily Course Start Time: 8:30 a.m.
  • Daily Course End Time: 5:30 p.m.
  • Course End Date/Time: April 22, 2010 at 4:30 p.m.

Attendees must be present for the entire duration of the course in order to be eligible for a certificate of completion. Please make the appropriate arrangements. Please note that it will take up to 14 days to respond to the status of your scholarship application. Do not proceed to register for the course through this website unless you are prepared to pay for tuition. The site will prompt you for payment if you go through our registration module.

Pre Purchase II: Developing Your Skills in an Evolving Mortgage Industry

In the rapidly changing mortgage industry, counseling professionals are constantly challenged to maintain quality of service. Now more than ever, it is crucial for counselors to develop an understanding of industry functions; track changes in rules, regulations, and market conditions; and communicate effectively. This course provides the foundation of knowledge required to offer comprehensive counseling and quality education in this environment. Counselors learn how to effectively collaborate, counsel, and advocate within the lending community by attending this course.
